Paddy Tipping enquires about flood defenses

Paddy Tipping MP recently submitted the following question about flood defenses. The Trent floodplain lies on the southern edge of his constituency, a mile-wide swathe identified on Dept. of Environment maps as being in a flood risk zone.

Nottingshire development threats

Paddy Tipping continues to attempt to protect the local environment, opposing two developments.


Annesley Developments have made an application to drain Annesley lagoon, near Newstead Abbey, and to turn it into a landfill. Paddy Tipping has met the leaders of the 'Friends Of Annesley Lagoons' in order to offer support and to discuss tactics.

In a major setback to the on-going campaign to prevent housing development at Top Wighay in the Green Belt, Gedling Borough Council is now supporting the proposal in order to help meet the Local Plan requirement for 8,000 homes. This is in spite of a recent report which recommended reducing this requirement by 1,000. Paddy Tipping is encouraging the local opposition group to mount a legal challenge.
